In between metal bond tooling grinding and resin bond tooling polishing, some contractors use hybrid tooling as transitional steps. There are two types of hybrid tooling: copper polishing tooling and ceramic polishing tooling.
Hybrid bond tooling is actually bonded by resin, but diamond particles are coated with copper or ceramic so they get larger in size, hence more aggressive. With copper or ceramic mixed in, the hybrid bond tooling becomes stronger than resin bond tooling.
The difference between copper hybrid bond and ceramic hybrid bond is that, ceramic hybrid bond is more aggressive and can even be used to grind concrete. The degree of diamond tooling aggressiveness is as follows:
Metal Bond Grinding Tooling > Ceramic Hybrid Bond Tooling> Copper Hybrid Bond Tooling>Resin Bond Polishing Tooling.
