1/4PCD Diamond Tooling for Newgrind Without Sacrificial Bars or Metal Bond Button

The 1/4PCD Diamond Tooling for Newgrind without sacrificial bars or a metal bond button is the most aggressive option for heavy-duty coating removal. With nothing to limit the cutting depth, the exposed PCD segments rapidly scrape away thick, tough, and heavily bonded materials, making it ideal for demanding floor preparation projects.

Recommended for removing:

  • Thick mastics and construction adhesives
  • Heavy glue residue
  • Thick elastomeric membranes
  • 1/4” parking deck membranes
  • Epoxy coatings 30 mils (0.76 mm) and thicker
  • Epoxy coatings with silica sand broadcast
  • Urethanes, waterproof coatings, and other heavy industrial coatings

Because of its aggressive cutting action, this tooling may leave a rougher concrete profile and is generally recommended when maximum removal speed is the priority rather than surface finish.

1/4 PCD With Sacrificial Bars or Metal Bond Button

The 1/4 PCD tooling with sacrificial bars or a metal bond button combines aggressive coating removal with improved stability and surface protection. The sacrificial bars (or metal bond button) act as a depth guide and stabilizer, helping distribute grinding pressure evenly while reducing gouging caused by the exposed PCD segments.

This design allows contractors to remove coatings efficiently while minimizing unnecessary damage to the concrete substrate, making it an excellent choice for projects where the concrete surface will be polished or recoated.

Recommended for removing:

  • Medium to thin mastics
  • Construction adhesives
  • Glue residue
  • Epoxy coatings 30 mils (0.76 mm) or thinner
  • Paints, sealers, and other thin surface coatings

Benefits:

  • More controlled grinding
  • Reduced gouging of concrete
  • Better floor flatness after coating removal
  • Ideal for concrete floor preparation before polishing or resurfacing
  • Longer and more consistent tool performance

Important Rotation Direction Reminder

PCD diamond tooling is direction-specific. Every PCD segment is manufactured for either clockwise (CW) or counterclockwise (CCW/anti-clockwise) rotation. Before placing your order or installing the tooling, always verify the rotation direction of your grinder’s planetary heads. Installing the wrong rotation will significantly reduce cutting efficiency, accelerate tool wear, and may damage the PCD segments.

If you are unsure about your machine’s rotation direction, simply contact our technical support team. We are happy to help you select the correct PCD diamond tooling for your floor grinder and coating removal application.

If duties are required, the courier company will contact you directly and assist with the payment and processing.
  3. How to measure concrete floor hardness?
Rebound test for PSI hardnessA rebound test (Schmidt Hammer test) is a quick, non-destructive method to estimate the compressive strength (PSI) and surface hardness of a concrete floor.
Scratch test for Mohs scaleThe Mohs hardness test measures how resistant concrete is to scratching by using tools with known hardness levels. A test pick is dragged across the concrete surface, and the scratch is inspected. The highest-numbered pick that can scratch the surface represents the concrete’s surface hardness. Mohs scale ranges from 1 (soft) to 10 (hard).
