Bond Options (Based on Hardness)
Bond Options (Based on Hardness)

Choosing the right bond is critical for optimizing grinding performance and extending the lifespan of your metal grinding tools. This item offers various bond options tailored to different concrete hardness levels.

As a general rule:

  • Hard Bond – Recommended for soft concrete
  • Medium Bond – Recommended for medium-hard concrete
  • Soft Bond – Recommended for hard concrete

To provide the right bond for different concrete conditions and grinding requirements, we offer multiple bond hardness options. Please refer to the chart below to select the most suitable bond for your concrete hardness.

As a general rule, softer concrete requires a harder bond, while harder concrete requires a softer bond. Selecting the proper bond helps ensure efficient cutting, consistent diamond exposure, and longer tool life.

  3. How to measure concrete floor hardness?
Rebound test for PSI hardnessA rebound test (Schmidt Hammer test) is a quick, non-destructive method to estimate the compressive strength (PSI) and surface hardness of a concrete floor.
Scratch test for Mohs scaleThe Mohs hardness test measures how resistant concrete is to scratching by using tools with known hardness levels. A test pick is dragged across the concrete surface, and the scratch is inspected. The highest-numbered pick that can scratch the surface represents the concrete’s surface hardness. Mohs scale ranges from 1 (soft) to 10 (hard).
