Available grit options include:

16/20, 16, 20, 30, 30/40, 50, 60/80, 60, 70, 80/100, 80, 100, 100/120, 120, 150, and 200 grit.

The grit number indicates the approximate coarseness of the diamond abrasive.

Lower grit numbers provide a coarser and more aggressive cut. Grits such as 16, 20, and 30 are suitable for initial grinding and applications where faster material removal is required.

Higher grit numbers produce finer scratches and a smoother surface. Grits such as 80, 100, 150, and 200 are suitable for progressively refining the concrete surface and preparing it for subsequent polishing steps.

Bond Options Based on Concrete Hardness

Selecting the correct metal bond is essential for achieving efficient grinding, consistent diamond exposure, and long tooling life.

The bond is the metal matrix that holds the diamond particles in each segment. During grinding, the bond gradually wears away to expose fresh diamonds. Matching the bond to the hardness of the concrete helps maintain consistent cutting performance.

As a general rule:

Hard Concrete → Softer Bond
Soft Concrete → Harder Bond

For hard concrete, a softer bond wears more readily and helps expose fresh diamond particles. If the bond is too hard, the tooling may glaze over and lose cutting efficiency.

For soft or abrasive concrete, a harder bond helps control segment wear and extend tooling life. Using a bond that is too soft may result in excessive wear and shortened tool life.
